Playing From An Uphill Or Downhill Lie

Links courses are known for their undulating fairways. Even the best hit drive can leave you in the centre of the fairway but with a tricky lie on an incline.

When the ball is lying above your feet the ball will move right to left in the air. Grip down the club and aim 20-30 yards right of target. Make a flatter swing and use the hook spin to bring the ball back on line.

If the ball is lying below your feet, take one more club than normal. Aim left of the target and flex the legs more to get nearer the ball. Maintain your balance and the ball will fade left to right.
